Earlier this month we announced Avatar Connection’s first featured member, Katisha Forsythe. Katisha was kind enough to answer a few questions about herself and shared her inspiration for that fantastic Christmas build.

Katisha uses the last name of Honi in SL and other MMOG games, in her own words she chose the last name Forsythe in Avatar Connection because it was the one she wanted in SL. I am told that in SL you can see Katisha running around as anything from a small dragon to a cute house cat, all depends what she is feeling like. Here in Avatar Connection she is running around as a Neko, but I am sure if she found herself a quad cat avatar, when the mood took she would be running around in that to. Katisha describes herself as a “mood” Avatar, and it’s her mood that determines how she looks and what she does in world. It’s a good job that Katisha is a talented avatar that enjoys having ago at all aspects of a virtual world, for having a dabble with a script to making a sculpt or texture, however building furniture is her favourite past time in world.

I asked Katisha where the idea for her Christmas build came from and she explained,

Well living in Australia I wanted to show that Christmas is not just all snow”, which was one of the things that we liked about her build. She went on to say “That’s where the sandman came in. Then one thing led to another, Santa stripping off his clothes, then I had to do a sleigh, then the beach house etc , etc. I wanted something quirky and what could be more quirky than showing what Santa may do on the 26th” Well Katisha I think you pulled off quirky very well and look forward to more quirky builds from you. While talking about the Christmas build Katisha was very frank with us and explained that she was not the biggest fan of Christmas and it just made sense to do a diorama of something after the big day.

For those who have not yet been to Katisha region here in Avatar Connection, I would strongly recommend a visit. The idea behind Blue Haven is to replicate some of Katisha’s child hood memories to share with people, the name it’s self comes from a farm that she actually grew up on. There is also a little section on Blue Haven which I am told will have a working brewery and an old English style pub. Katisha is hoping to maybe have some pub quiz nights for the AC community… can’t wait J

Blue Haven is a region to keep your eye on, Katisha has over 5 years’ experience in virtual worlds, which even she is surprised by how long her attention span has lasted. She went on to explain why she thought this may be the case.

I am one of those people who see virtual worlds as a social network, not a “game”, so I suppose the people I have met along the way, keep me logging in.

Katisha believes virtual worlds are a wonderful platform for education, information sharing and bring remote people together for support, help and just plain old having a hoot. She would love one day to bring her RL profession (archivist/librarian) into Avatar Connection, by creating a place for such professional from around the world to meet in a 3D space and create educational exhibits.

It has been fun getting this insight into Katisha’s inspiration for her builds and now cannot wait to see what she can archive within Avatar Connection.
